About
me
Having
completed my Three Dimensional Degree at Manchester Metropolitan
University I have been working as an artist in Manchester. I have a
studio in the beautiful two hundred year old building at Hope Mill in
Ancoats. I share this space with two other artists, which makes this a
very productive space to work in.
Recently I have been working with
Manchester band Beggar Joe, designing and producing all the drawings
and digital artwork for the label, cover and insert of their latest
album. This is also being used for the associated promotions and
advertising.
I am currently working with the Woodland Trust on a project called
“Adventure + Play = Discovery.” This is a site-specific project based
at Woodhouse / Snidely Moor in Cheshire, where we are trying to
increase the visitors awareness of the environment through art
installations.
I love drawing and painting the human form. These can range from
detailed portraits to brighter more abstract pieces. The main mediums I
work in are chalk pastels, acrylics and oil paints, using many methods
such as rubbing out to create an image and painting layer upon layer
with sponges.
I also work with green wood to create objects for the home such as
bowls, seats and tables. The larger sections of tree trunk I use to
create benches and sculptures that ideally can be returned to their
natural environment. Many of my pieces are carved with a chainsaw and
red-hot embers are placed on the wood creating a unique effect.
I am
interested in doing commissions for portraits, commercial use and
site-specific work. Please contact me if you would like discuss a
project.
